Why Imported Cars?

There are many worries that people have when it comes to buying imported cars. Here at Prestige Automotives, we want to make the process of buying cars easy and stress free. Below you can read about the many reasons why buying an imported car is the best thing you could do!

Rust Free and in Better Condition than the Identical UK Model:
Most of our stock is imported from Japan, and Japanese roads are notoriously clean and well kept. This means that cars in the country are rust free and in a condition that is far superior when compared to cars of the same age in the UK. It also helps that Japanese owners are extremely car proud meaning that they are wanting to maintain the cars condition, so that there isn’t any chance of a breakdown.

ULEZ Compliant:
Japan Implemented a stricter emission policy before the UK did which means that older cars are subjected to these policies long before their UK equivalents. Between 2005 – 2007, New Long Term Standards were slowly implemented which were then followed by Post New Long Term Standards which were rolled out between 2009-2010. What this means is that most Japanese imported petrol cars are compliant with London’s ULEZ and Low Emission Zones which are in operation in many major UK cities. Here at Prestige Automotives we make sure that most of our stock is compliant with these zones, so that you won’t have to worry about any additional charges.
Please do check with the correct websites in the case of any worries.

Cheaper Road Tax:
This may seem like a less important bonus but it is actually quite beneficial to a car owner. Due to the emissions standards, imported cars are subjected to cheaper roat tax, helping you save even more money!

Cheaper than the UK Equivilent:
Many people believe that imported cars are more expensive than buying cars that originate from the UK, but this isn’t the case. There are 2 main reasons why imported cars are more affordable than UK ones.
Firstly, favourable exchange rates are extremely beneficial to lowering the cost of a car.
More importantly, imported cars are made more affordable due to steep depreciation curve of the country they come from. Japan has the steepest depreciation curve of any country, which means new cars lose their value extremely quickly. This means that Japanese owners then sell their cars on for a lower price than standard. Which is how we can then provide a price that is far lower when compared to UK cars. Same car, lower price!

Low Mileage:
Here at Prestige Automotives we aim to get cars with low mileage. Many people look at a older car with low mileage and focus solely on the age, but it is the mileage you should focus on. In Japan, cars are used less frequently and only cover short trips. This means that the cars we import are in great condition despite their age.

Unique Cars:
We all enjoy having some individuality. The great thing about imported cars are their originality. You are able to find specifications that are unavailable in the UK market. Things such as interior material and colour, exterior colour and additional features such as air conditioning + heating. The list is endless. For instance, here at Prestige Automotives we currently have a 2012 Land Rover Freelander 2 which features a striking and unique olive green exterior colour which you are unable to find on the UK version of the car.
